The main character is portrayed as a magical being comprised of wonder. She is shown in states of beauty, with mysterious symbology, allusions to primal sexuality, and of having a connection to nature and the metaphysical. I've always had an interest in nature and the fantastical, especially the supernatural. This fascination shows in my work. I've been an avid reader of these genres during my life. My dreams are often vivid and weird. My mind often wanders through my imagination. Painting has given me an outlet to convey a sense of the hidden beautiful world I experience. Often my paintings express what is impossible for me to express verbally. My paintings are not of the real, but rather, of the relationship that color and form has with my senses, and how I navigate and chart all this heady stimuli. When I paint, I am attempting to create a visual space that soothes my eye, thereby soothing my soul. This does not mean a painting can't be exciting, rather, it means that what is askew has found balance. The symbology in my work is comprised of pictograms, arcane magical languages and alchemical script. These markings are like visceral glyphs that communicate with the subconscious, exciting a mental response that is a sensation of yearning for a deeper knowledge of the mysteries of the world. I have always found such clues to the inner machinations of mystical reality and nature fascinating. I like to mix realism with illustration. Also, I like to have defined areas of color, of space, and to work with linear contours. The positive and the negative spaces should be much the same in importance. The work should blend perceptions of a three dimensional figure in a two dimensional space. This, to me, is the most pleasing situation for my work. Some of my color palettes are inspired by Japanese pop and kawaii culture. Creating artwork is my full-time profession. More than that, it is my vocation. Points Are Appreciated! Thank you!! [link] |
